The Communications, Space and Technology Commission released its Internet 2025 report on July 19, 2026 showing that 45.2 percent of Saudi internet users have adopted artificial intelligence tools. The commission’s fifth edition of the annual survey examines the evolution of the kingdom’s digital infrastructure while highlighting trends in usage and the uptake of emerging technologies. This figure reflects rapid integration of AI applications into everyday online activities according to the CST assessment.
According to the CST report average mobile internet data consumption reached 53 gigabytes per person per month three times the global average. The median mobile internet download speed stood at 216 megabits per second placing Saudi Arabia among the top five G20 nations on this measure. These infrastructure advances support expanded digital service delivery the commission has monitored across successive reports.
The report indicated that 61.3 percent of users spend seven hours or more online each day reflecting increased reliance on digital platforms for routine tasks. It analyzed usage patterns across social media government services sports and artificial intelligence applications to identify the most popular and frequently downloaded options in each category. Such insights illustrate shifting consumer preferences within the Saudi digital market the CST said.
CST data showed an 18 percent annual growth rate in Saudi domain name registrations signaling rising trust in local online content and services. The document further addressed the fastest growing applications common browsing habits leading search engines and continued expansion in domain registrations overall. These indicators together chart the progressive development of the kingdom’s internet ecosystem according to the report.
A prior CST report issued in 2025 had recorded AI tool usage at 21.5 percent among internet users demonstrating notable year-over-year progress. The Stanford HAI 2026 AI Index Report noted that generative AI has reached 53 percent population adoption in some countries within three years faster than previous technologies such as personal computers. Saudi Arabia’s reported rate exceeds averages seen in many other markets the index found.
Microsoft’s Global AI Diffusion Report placed worldwide usage at 17.8 percent of the working-age population in early 2026 underscoring the kingdom’s comparatively elevated engagement. The CST publishes these reviews annually to track digital trends and inform enhancements to service efficiency across the sector. The latest edition incorporates additional metrics on connectivity improvements and their contributions to innovation the commission detailed.
