The National Center for Meteorology has issued a red alert for heavy rain across Taif, Al-Kamil, Adham and nearby areas in the Makkah region. Orange alerts for moderate rain cover Al-Ais, Al-Mahd, Badr and surrounding locations in the Madinah region. A yellow alert for light rain and blowing dust applies to Rabigh, Jeddah, Al-Khurmah and adjacent zones in the Makkah region, according to the center’s early warning system.
Moderate to heavy thunderstorms that could lead to flash floods, accompanied by hail showers and active winds raising dust and sand, are anticipated over sections of Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, Makkah and Madinah, the National Center for Meteorology reported. The center indicated that opportunities persist for the development of rain-bearing thunderclouds accompanied by active winds in the Northern Borders, Jazan, and the southern parts of the Eastern Province and Riyadh regions. Fog remains possible during the night and early morning over coastal sections of the eastern Kingdom, the center’s daily forecast stated.
Temperature projections released by the National Center for Meteorology place the peak at 47 degrees Celsius in Madinah on Thursday. Dammam is expected to reach 46 degrees Celsius, with Riyadh and Buraidah both forecast to hit 45 degrees Celsius. Makkah, Arar and Sakaka could see 43 degrees Celsius while Hail reaches 42 degrees, the center’s data shows.
Additional maximum temperatures include 40 degrees Celsius in Tabuk and Najran, 38 degrees in Jazan, 37 degrees in Jeddah, 31 degrees in Abha and 28 degrees in Al-Baha, according to the National Center for Meteorology. City-specific outlooks from the center predict partly cloudy conditions with suspended dust in Riyadh. Rain, active winds and blowing dust are likely in Makkah, Madinah and Jeddah.
The National Center for Meteorology forecast fog and partly cloudy skies for Dammam, heavy thunderstorms with active winds and fog in Abha, and clear to partly cloudy weather in Tabuk. Buraidah will likely remain partly cloudy with suspended dust as Hail sees rain-bearing thunderclouds, active winds and blowing dust. Arar, Sakaka, Jazan and Najran face their respective mixes of partly cloudy skies or thunderstorms with winds and dust.
Humidity is projected to climb as high as 95 percent in Dammam, Abha and Al-Baha, the National Center for Meteorology figures show. Lower readings include 20 percent in Riyadh and Buraidah. The alerts and forecasts form part of a weather pattern spanning from Wednesday to Saturday, with the center’s platform indicating 43 active warnings nationwide on Thursday.
