Electronic Arts said in a statement that its acquisition by a consortium headed by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, along with Silver Lake and Affinity Partners, closed after securing all required regulatory approvals and shareholder backing. The deal, which was first reached in September 2025, results in the company being taken private with its shares delisted from the Nasdaq Stock Market. EA stockholders will receive $210 in cash for each share held as of the closing date, according to the announcement.

Details released with the statement show the Public Investment Fund taking approximately 93 percent ownership of Electronic Arts in a leveraged buyout that incorporated around $20 billion in debt alongside equity contributions from the partners. Assessments from industry trackers place the enterprise value of the transaction near $55 billion, establishing it as one of the largest of its kind in the gaming sector. The Public Investment Fund had served as a minority investor in the company for several years prior to the full acquisition.

In the statement, Electronic Arts Chairman and CEO Andrew Wilson said, “This moment recognizes the extraordinary people whose creativity, ambition and passion have made EA one of the world’s leading interactive entertainment companies. We’re entering this next chapter from a position of strength with partners who share our vision and ambition.” The announcement added that the new ownership structure would allow the company to accelerate creativity and innovation across its portfolio of titles.

Turqi Alnowaiser, deputy governor and head of international investments at the Public Investment Fund, stated that the fund’s experience as a minority investor had given it deep insight into EA’s business model and future opportunities. “Entertainment and sports are key areas of strategic focus for PIF, and are among the fastest-growing and evolving sectors around the world,” Alnowaiser said. He noted that the consortium is positioned to serve as a long-term partner to EA’s management team.

Silver Lake CEO Egon Durban indicated in the joint release that the investors intend to commit substantial resources to EA’s expansion, with particular emphasis on applying artificial intelligence to game development and player engagement. Affinity Partners CEO Jared Kushner added that EA has built iconic stories and communities connecting hundreds of millions worldwide. The partners aim to broaden the company’s audience reach and support the next generation of creators through the transaction.

The Public Investment Fund has described its gaming investments as central to economic diversification efforts, with its Savvy Games Group unit pursuing stakes in developers such as Scopely and involvement in major esports initiatives. Official Saudi statistics place the number of gamers in the Kingdom at more than 23 million, equivalent to roughly two-thirds of the population. The acquisition builds on earlier PIF moves in the sector that included participation in titles reaching billions in revenue and hosting of global competitive events.
