The Jordan News Agency reported that Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi held the telephone conversation with Prince Faisal bin Farhan to review the latest developments in the region. The ministers examined targeted efforts to reduce escalation, restore calm, contain crises and limit their negative repercussions on regional and international security. They pledged to maintain joint coordination and consultation on current challenges in ways that strengthen security for states in the area and protect the interests of their peoples. The two officials also confirmed the solidarity of the brotherly kingdoms in confronting anything that could affect their security and stability.

A statement from Jordan’s Foreign Ministry indicated that Safadi renewed condemnation of terrorist attacks by the Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia. He affirmed Jordan’s full support for the kingdom in all measures it takes to protect its security, sovereignty and the safety of its citizens and residents. This position follows a series of Houthi actions that have targeted Saudi infrastructure in recent weeks.

According to the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, four drones were intercepted and destroyed over Riyadh and the kingdom’s eastern and southern regions on October 17. Coalition spokesman Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki detailed the defensive operations against the Iran-backed group’s attempts to strike civilian and economic sites. Jordan had previously denounced similar assaults, including strikes earlier in the month on King Khalid International Airport that caused casualties including a Jordanian national.

The Saudi Press Agency noted that the discussion followed a previous phone call between the two ministers on October 6 that also focused on de-escalation and bilateral cooperation. Frequent high-level contacts of this kind illustrate the close strategic partnership between Riyadh and Amman on shared concerns. Both countries have aligned their approaches to multiple conflicts affecting the wider region.

Official readouts released by the foreign ministries of Saudi Arabia and Jordan presented matching accounts of the conversation. The coordinated statements highlight the unified messaging employed by the two sides on sensitive regional issues. Such diplomatic exchanges have become more regular during periods of elevated volatility across the Middle East.
