According to the Saudi Press Agency, Aramco and solutions by stc are partnering to deploy a next-generation high-performance supercomputer as part of the energy company’s digital transformation efforts. The SAR 1.4 billion project, equivalent to $372.5 million, will provide seven times more computing power than existing systems while targeting seismic interpretation and large-scale reservoir simulations. Solutions by stc will manage the full scope including infrastructure deployment, software licensing and ongoing support services under the agreement. The initiative aims to accelerate data processing and improve decision accuracy in exploration activities.
The companies said in a statement that the supercomputer will serve as a critical enabler for handling vast seismic and subsurface datasets generated in upstream operations. This infrastructure draws on technologies from leading global high-performance computing providers to strengthen Aramco’s competitive position. Aramco maintains five supercomputers on the Top500 list as of November 2025, according to the industry ranking, which illustrates its established capabilities in the field. The new system is designed to become the largest in the company’s history.
Aramco reported $2.6 billion in value directly attributable to AI-driven solutions across approximately 500 use cases in 2025, bringing cumulative technology realised value to $11.3 billion since 2023. The fresh investment in high-performance computing will extend these gains by supporting more complex modeling in oil and gas development. Solutions by stc, a subsidiary of stc Group focused on digital transformation across Saudi Arabia and the region, will deliver an integrated model of hardware, software and managed services. The one-year contract was signed in March 2026 with further details released in subsequent months.
The Saudi Press Agency noted that the collaboration aligns with stc Group’s strategy to build an advanced digital ecosystem supporting multiple economic sectors in the Kingdom. Two interlinked high-performance systems will process the enormous data volumes required for precise subsurface imaging and reservoir analysis. This setup is expected to speed up exploration and production workflows while enhancing resource recovery efficiency. Aramco has positioned the project as a key step toward meeting rising global energy demand through technological leadership.
Solutions by stc announced that the agreement reinforces its role in enabling digital infrastructure for the energy industry, where rapid and accurate data insights carry direct commercial impact. The deployment follows Aramco’s pattern of investing in computational tools that underpin both artificial intelligence applications and traditional upstream workflows. Industry assessments place high-performance computing at the core of such advancements, with the new facility tailored specifically to Aramco’s operational requirements. The partnership highlights coordination between national energy and technology entities to drive sector-wide progress.
