The General Directorate of Border Guard said in a statement that land patrols conducted three independent operations targeting smuggling activity along the southern frontier. In the Al-Daer sector of Jazan, officers arrested four Ethiopian nationals and seized 33 kilograms of hashish together with 90 kilograms of khat. The statement confirmed that initial legal procedures were completed before the suspects and seized items were referred to the competent authority for prosecution.
A second operation in the Al-Ardah sector of Jazan resulted in the arrest of four additional Ethiopian nationals in possession of 72,415 tablets subject to medical circulation regulations, according to the Directorate. In Asir province, patrols in the Al-Rabouah sector detained four more Ethiopian nationals for border security violations after discovering 200 kilograms of khat in their possession. These actions brought the cumulative khat seizure to 290 kilograms while the hashish and tablet totals stood at the reported levels with all 12 individuals now in custody.
The Directorate has issued multiple updates this month outlining comparable interceptions in the same regions as part of intensified border monitoring. A statement released the previous day by the official spokesman Lt. Col. Mesfer bin Ghanam Al-Quraini described the disruption of a major hashish smuggling plot that yielded nearly 950 kilograms of the substance along the southern borders in coordination with narcotics control units. Such repeated operations have produced hundreds of arrests and large-scale drug recoveries throughout the current year according to the Directorate’s compiled announcements.
The General Directorate of Border Guard urged the public to report any information related to smuggling or narcotics trafficking through established channels.
