In a separate action within the same region, patrols blocked an attempt to introduce 34 kilograms of hashish into the kingdom. These interceptions underscore the force’s ongoing monitoring of high-risk border zones where smuggling activity persists.
Patrols in Asir province’s Al-Raboua sector detained two Ethiopian nationals in possession of 40 kilograms of khat, bringing the combined total of that substance to 124 kilograms across both regions. All eight individuals were classified as border security law violators intercepted during standard patrols. The Border Guard statement outlined how the operations unfolded through routine surveillance and rapid response measures.
The suspects along with the seized narcotics have been handed over to the competent authorities for investigation and legal action, the statement added. Such transfers align with established protocols under Saudi anti-smuggling regulations. Comparable cases processed in prior weeks have consistently followed this pathway to ensure thorough enforcement.
Authorities have urged residents to support these initiatives by reporting suspicious behavior through official channels, including the unified emergency number 911 in Makkah, Riyadh and the Eastern Province or 999 elsewhere. Dedicated hotlines comprise 994 for the Border Guard and 995 for narcotics control matters. The agency stressed that every submission remains strictly confidential with no disclosure of informant identities.
