The Saudi Press Agency reported that Prince Faisal met with Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The two sides reviewed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them across various fields during the encounter at the UN headquarters. Several issues and topics of mutual interest also featured in the discussions, the agency stated.
Bangladeshi officials provided further details on the agenda, with the prime minister’s assistant press secretary noting that the leaders exchanged views on bilateral cooperation, trade and investment as well as manpower and development cooperation. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman emphasized the need to deepen the historic and brotherly relations between the two countries through greater economic engagement. The Saudi foreign minister expressed interest in advancing ties, according to multiple Bangladeshi news outlets that covered the meeting.
The encounter comes as Saudi Arabia maintains robust economic links with Bangladesh, a relationship that has grown through labor mobility and commercial exchanges over the past decades. Bangladeshi media accounts of the New York meeting highlighted prospects for expanded Saudi investment in Bangladesh as a key topic. Regional and international issues of shared concern rounded out the agenda, the reports indicated.
Separately, the Saudi Press Agency detailed a June 10, 2026, telephone call between Prince Faisal and Lebanese Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam. During that conversation, the Saudi minister conveyed Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s directive to resume Lebanese exports to the Kingdom in response to positive steps taken by Beirut. The directive followed a request from Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Salam, acknowledging progress in rebuilding state institutions.
Prince Faisal reaffirmed the Kingdom’s support for Lebanon’s stability, sovereignty and the well-being of its people in the June call, the agency reported. He expressed confidence that Lebanese authorities would take necessary measures to prevent the country from being used as a platform to harm its neighbors. The Saudi Press Agency noted that the move built on cooperation demonstrated by the Lebanese side over the preceding year.
Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic engagements with both nations reflect ongoing efforts to foster stability and economic partnerships in South Asia and the Levant. The foreign minister’s discussions have consistently emphasized mutual respect for sovereignty alongside practical steps to expand cooperation. These conversations align with the Kingdom’s broader approach to regional diplomacy as seen in other recent high-level meetings.
