The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement expressing the Kingdom’s strongest condemnation of the repeated Iranian attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain. The ministry said these acts constitute a violation of state sovereignty and international law. It added that Saudi Arabia holds Iran responsible for the consequences of persisting in these brutal attacks and demands an immediate halt to these violations in order to preserve the security, stability and safety of the region. The statement reiterated Saudi Arabia’s full solidarity with Kuwait and Bahrain regarding the measures they take to safeguard their sovereignty.
Kuwait’s military reported intercepting two missiles and 13 drones launched from Iran a day earlier. Iranian state media reported that the Revolutionary Guards had targeted US military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain with missiles and drones. Arab News reported that these incidents form part of a series of cross-border attacks that have intensified amid the confrontation between Iran and the United States.
The Saudi condemnation aligns with positions taken by several other countries. A joint statement issued by the Consultative Ministerial Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Group of Arab and Islamic Countries called for Iran to abide by implementing Security Council Resolution 2817 of 2026, which demanded an immediate halt to all attacks, the Saudi Press Agency reported. The Arab League has also strongly condemned Iranian attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain in a separate statement, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan held a telephone conversation with his Kuwaiti counterpart on the matter. During the call, he condemned the Iranian attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain while reiterating the need to return to dialogue and halt escalations, the ministry said. This diplomatic step reflects broader efforts among Gulf states to address the spillover from regional tensions.
The attacks raised concerns over critical infrastructure, including reported targeting of Kuwait International Airport in related strikes, the Saudi Press Agency reported. Both Bahrain and Kuwait successfully repelled the assaults using their air defense systems. The ministry’s statement emphasized that the continuation of these attacks threatens regional and international security.
The GCC Ministerial Council had earlier emphasized that member countries would take all necessary measures to defend themselves against such Iranian aggression, according to a council statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency. Saudi Arabia’s latest position builds on that collective framework. The foreign ministry’s issuance came as multiple nations joined in condemning the Iranian actions.
