Turki Alalshikh, chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, announced on July 7, 2026, that the authority will develop a 100,000-square-meter entertainment destination in the heart of Najran set to launch in 2027. The project will integrate entertainment experiences, restaurants, retail outlets and signature events to serve residents and visitors in the southern region. The Saudi Press Agency distributed the announcement, which positioned the development as an addition to the authority’s growing portfolio of regional leisure sites.
The complex will include live performances, cinema screenings, bowling, karting and assorted recreational activities alongside multiple dining choices. Alalshikh described the venue as offering a distinctive experience through its scale and varied attractions. A statement from the General Entertainment Authority noted that the site would host regular events to sustain year-round engagement.
The General Entertainment Authority was established in 2016 to regulate and grow the entertainment sector under Saudi Vision 2030, according to a document on the Vision 2030 website. Authority figures show that events it has licensed or organized have drawn more than 120 million attendees while involving over 3,700 businesses and spanning more than 100,000 event days. These outcomes illustrate the sector’s expansion since the authority began operations.
Vision 2030 targets an increase in household spending on recreation and culture from 2.9 percent to 6 percent by 2030, a tracker maintained by the Vision 2030 program indicates. The Najran destination supports that aim by extending modern entertainment infrastructure beyond the main cities of Riyadh and Jeddah. Comparable projects have accompanied a rise in licensed entertainment sites, which reached 472 in the most recent year reported by the authority.
The authority has staged more than 60 seasons and festivals over the past decade that together attracted more than 320 million visitors nationwide, according to a May 2026 assessment published by Asharq Al-Awsat. Najran’s facility will add to that network with a focus on family-oriented and commercial activities that can stimulate local hospitality and retail. The development forms part of a broader pattern of regional investments that have included similar complexes in other provinces.
Alalshikh thanked King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their support of entertainment initiatives in the statement issued July 7, 2026. That support has enabled the authority to accelerate project delivery across multiple regions in recent years. The Najran announcement aligns with the authority’s ongoing calendar of infrastructure expansions.
