The Royal Commission for AlUla announced the start of the 2026-2027 Khayrat AlUla agricultural season on July 11, 2026. The commission oversees an annual harvest of 130,000 tons of dates along with 14,000 tons of citrus fruits from a cultivated area that spans more than 20,500 hectares. Its announcement highlighted ongoing registration of farmland resources to strengthen local production chains and market positioning.

The commission’s data places the number of surveyed and registered palm trees in the region above 4.2 million. More than 1.5 million of those palms have been incorporated into a smart QR code traceability system that lets buyers confirm product origins and quality standards. This infrastructure forms part of a wider push to elevate AlUla-grown items in both domestic and export channels.

Targets set by the commission aim to lift the agricultural sector’s gross output to SR1.8 billion by 2035. Date sales are expected to reach SR1.507 billion within that total, including SR1.226 billion from overseas markets. The Royal Commission for AlUla reported that these goals rest on continued expansion of certified production and improved supply-chain visibility.

Support programs operated by the commission deliver advisory, technical and veterinary services to more than 7,100 farmers in the area. Specialized training sessions have equipped participants with updated practices, while selected farms have earned the Saudi Dates Mark for compliance with quality benchmarks. Earlier launches, including the 2025 citrus season detailed in prior commission statements, have followed a similar model of combining production growth with knowledge transfer.

Agricultural waste recycling under the initiative has yielded more than 334,000 cubic meters of organic compost annually. Designs for modern irrigation systems cover more than 4,000 hectares as the commission works toward a 47 percent reduction in water consumption by 2035. The Royal Commission for AlUla tied these measures to long-term environmental safeguards that align with national resource management priorities.

Khayrat AlUla functions as an umbrella celebration of the region’s farming calendar, according to details published on the commission’s strategic initiatives page. Seasonal events feature markets for direct sales of fresh produce, tasting kiosks and family-oriented activities that draw visitors while promoting local output. The commission’s framework uses these gatherings to connect farmers with broader marketing opportunities and to showcase AlUla’s agricultural heritage.
