The Saudi Foreign Ministry announced that Prince Faisal bin Farhan received the call from Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah amid escalating regional tensions triggered by Iranian military actions. The ministers jointly denounced the strikes that hit targets in Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan earlier this month. Their dialogue also covered collaborative strategies to maintain peace and stability throughout the Gulf area.

Iranian assaults on Kuwaiti installations including the Ali Al Salem airbase caused significant damage and casualties, Al Jazeera reported. The strikes killed seven civilians and injured 105 others according to local tallies that sum precisely to the reported impact. This wave of attacks formed part of a broader retaliatory campaign against United States positions in the region.

The conversation reflects ongoing Saudi-Kuwaiti coordination on security issues that dates back decades, a ResearchGate analysis of Kuwaiti foreign policy between Iran and Saudi Arabia from 1971 to 2023 indicated. Both nations have consistently opposed threats to territorial sovereignty in the Gulf. The latest exchange aims to align positions ahead of potential further diplomatic moves at the GCC level.

In a separate statement the Saudi Foreign Ministry rejected Iran’s violations of brotherly countries’ sovereignty and its continuous threats to the region’s security and stability. Iran International noted that the GCC issued parallel calls for the Strait of Hormuz to remain open to free navigation without additional fees or restrictions. These positions underscore a unified front among Gulf states facing external pressures.

Prince Faisal bin Farhan has led multiple such engagements to rally support against destabilizing actions, according to ministry records of recent diplomatic activity. The Kuwaiti minister echoed the need for immediate cessation of all aggressive operations in the area. Joint efforts discussed include information sharing and coordinated defense measures to protect critical infrastructure.

Regional analysts have tracked an uptick in such ministerial consultations since the onset of heightened Iran-related conflicts in early 2026. The phone call on Sunday forms part of a series of responses to the February initiation of strikes on Kuwaiti and American assets. Kuwaiti defenses successfully intercepted many incoming projectiles, minimizing but not eliminating the overall toll.
