The Saudi Ministry of Commerce has instructed the recall of 14470 Land Rover vehicles in the Kingdom after identifying a defect that may stop the driver’s airbag from inflating properly in the event of a collision. The action covers specific Range Rover Defender and Discovery models produced between 2020 and 2026 and forms part of the ministry’s ongoing cooperation with the Defective Products Recall Center to address safety concerns promptly. Vehicle owners must check their VIN on the Recalls.sa portal to determine whether their SUV falls within the affected batch according to the ministry announcement.

Ministry data places the total at precisely 14470 units while the defect involves fretting corrosion that can raise electrical resistance in the airbag circuit over time. This condition increases the risk of injury by leaving the driver unprotected during an impact the ministry statement explained. The campaign mirrors similar actions taken by the ministry earlier this year including the recall of 717 Land Rover Evoque vehicles in June over a related passenger-side airbag issue.

Jaguar Land Rover has initiated a parallel global recall that NHTSA figures show encompasses approximately 250857 SUVs across multiple markets for the identical clockspring connector problem. The manufacturer has directed dealers to apply a protective lubricant gel to the connector terminals as the remedy which resolves the corrosion risk without replacing major components. In Saudi Arabia the local agent Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors Co. will perform the inspection and repair free of charge the ministry said.

Owners of affected vehicles should contact the authorised dealer immediately upon confirming inclusion through the Recalls.sa system the ministry advised. The process ensures that all repairs comply with manufacturer specifications and ministry safety standards to restore full airbag functionality. This latest recall underscores the ministry’s commitment to monitoring imported vehicles and enforcing corrective measures when defects emerge.

The ministry has processed dozens of vehicle recalls in recent years targeting various brands and components ranging from braking systems to fuel lines. Such interventions draw on international regulatory alerts and local market surveillance to protect consumers the ministry has reported in prior summaries of its activities. Drivers are encouraged to respond quickly to recall notices as delays can leave vehicles operating with unresolved safety vulnerabilities.
