Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman received Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman in Jeddah on Tuesday where the two leaders examined the strong fraternal bonds between their countries and explored opportunities to expand cooperation in numerous fields. The Saudi Press Agency reported that discussions also covered recent regional developments along with joint efforts to safeguard security and stability for the benefit of all parties involved. Such high-level meetings have become a regular feature of Saudi-Omani relations in recent years as both nations seek to align their approaches on shared priorities.
The Oman News Agency offered a parallel account of the talks stating that the leaders addressed the established course of brotherly relations and means to develop them across sectors while exchanging perspectives on prominent current issues. That account added that the conversation included potential solutions capable of achieving de-escalation and peace to protect the safety of states and peoples as well as their economies and interests. The agency characterised the visit as a brotherly occasion that reflects the depth of ongoing coordination between Muscat and Riyadh.
According to the Saudi Press Agency the meeting brought together senior figures from both governments to support the discussions. Saudi participants included Energy and Industry Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Deputy Emir of Makkah Province Prince Saud bin Mishaal Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and several other ministers responsible for commerce tourism transport investment and intelligence along with the Saudi ambassador to Oman. The Omani delegation featured Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said a number of royal court and interior ministers the foreign minister the chairman of the private office the head of the Oman Investment Authority and the Omani ambassador to Saudi Arabia.
Sultan Haitham bin Tariq arrived earlier Tuesday at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah where he was received by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the same group of Saudi officials Arab News reported. The reception underscored the importance attached to the visit which follows a written message from the Crown Prince to the Sultan delivered in Muscat only days earlier by the Saudi ambassador. These exchanges illustrate the continuous communication channels maintained at the highest levels between the two neighbouring states.
Previous joint statements issued by Saudi Arabia and Oman have repeatedly highlighted the value of their coordination council established several years ago to drive integration in economic security and political domains. A December 2025 meeting of that council chaired by the foreign ministers produced agreements on industrial integration and enhanced trade according to Okaz newspaper. Such institutional mechanisms provide a foundation for the topics addressed during the latest Jeddah meeting.
The Saudi Press Agency noted that the leaders’ conversation aligned with longstanding mutual commitments to stability in the Gulf and beyond including past emphasis on resolving the Yemen crisis through political means and addressing broader regional files. Both sides have consistently voiced support for principles of good neighbourliness and respect for international resolutions in earlier communiqués.
