The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Prince Faisal bin Farhan had appointed Manal Hassan Radwan as adviser and special envoy to the foreign minister for negotiations and peace efforts. The decision underscores the veteran diplomat’s expertise in international negotiations and conflict resolution at a moment when Saudi Arabia is deeply engaged in multilateral initiatives aimed at stabilizing the Middle East. Radwan’s new responsibilities will center on advancing the Kingdom’s diplomatic objectives across various global forums.

According to biographical information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Radwan previously served as minister plenipotentiary and has held advisory positions within the ministry since 2017. She worked as an adviser in the Office of the Minister of State for African Affairs before joining the Office of the Foreign Minister in 2021. Her career trajectory reflects a steady rise through the ranks of Saudi diplomacy with a consistent focus on strategic policy matters.

The foreign ministry’s records show that Radwan spent more than five years at Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York from 2012 to 2017. She also served at the Kingdom’s mission to the Arab League in Cairo and handled congressional and political affairs at the Saudi Embassy in Washington. These postings equipped her with broad experience in multilateral affairs and bilateral relations that directly inform her expanded mandate.

Radwan has played a significant part in Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic initiatives on the Palestinian issue, according to ministry statements detailing her prior work. In May 2025 she headed the Saudi delegation to a United Nations preparatory meeting for the High-Level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, an effort co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France. That involvement aligns closely with the priorities outlined in her latest appointment.

Details released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicate that Radwan holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in political science and government from George Washington University. She earned a master’s degree and a PhD in peace studies and conflict resolution from George Mason University along with a postgraduate diploma in international human rights law from the American University in Cairo. Her academic credentials have supported her contributions to international coordination on foreign policy challenges.

Throughout her tenure Radwan has coordinated with governments and regional organizations on strategic initiatives, the ministry’s announcement noted. The appointment arrives as Saudi Arabia sustains its mediation efforts in multiple regional contexts, building on earlier diplomatic successes. Officials expect her expertise to strengthen the Kingdom’s capacity to navigate complex peace processes.
