The Transport General Authority carried out 363,049 regulatory inspection operations on land transport activities during September 2026. These inspections resulted in 94,321 violations being recorded along with 11,107 warnings issued to operators. A total of 3,449 vehicles and trucks were impounded during the campaign, including 249 at airports within the Kingdom, according to the authority.
Prominent violations centered on practicing transport without a valid driver card, according to the TGA. Additional common infractions involved failure to meet or maintain safety requirements based on vehicle type and materials transported as well as use of an expired professional driver card. Operating buses without an operating card and using private vehicles for preparatory passenger transport work without a license also ranked high in the tally.
Makkah Al-Mukarramah accounted for the highest number of violations at 23,303, TGA figures show. Riyadh followed with 22,266 violations while the Eastern Province registered 16,709. Madinah saw 6,423 violations, Tabuk recorded 6,254 and Asir had 4,464 with the balance spread across remaining regions.
The September effort continues the authority’s regular monitoring of compliance in passenger and freight transport. During the 1447 Hajj season the TGA seized 1,047 illegal transport vehicles while overseeing passenger services, a Saudi Press Agency report from May 2026 noted. Such actions involve coordination with other government bodies to enforce licensing rules nationwide.
TGA data places emphasis on both safety enhancements and service quality improvements through these inspections. Violators face vehicle impoundments in addition to financial penalties outlined in the land transport regulations. The authority has directed all operators to obtain required documentation and uphold standards to prevent operational interruptions.
