The suspects were apprehended while attempting to smuggle 17 kilograms of hashish along with 7,500 amphetamine tablets in violation of the Border Security Law. Preliminary legal procedures were completed at the scene. The three individuals and the seized narcotics were subsequently referred to the competent authority for prosecution.
Public cooperation forms a key element of these interdiction efforts, the Border Guard said in the same announcement. Citizens and residents may report suspected smuggling or narcotics activity by calling 911 or 999 in emergencies, 994 for security-related information or 995 for customs violations. The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority reported that its officials intercepted 1,198 smuggling attempts through Saudi Arabia’s customs ports in a single recent week. Ethiopian nationals have appeared in multiple Asir-related smuggling cases according to published security updates from regional outlets.
