The General Directorate of Border Guard detailed the operation in a statement released on Monday, noting that patrols intercepted the group in the southern region. Officials completed all initial legal steps before transferring both the individuals and the seized substance to the competent body for further processing. The directorate stressed the importance of such interceptions in maintaining national security and public health. This action reflects the ongoing vigilance exercised by border personnel in high-traffic smuggling corridors.

According to the directorate, members of the public play a vital role in supporting these efforts by reporting relevant information. Calls to 911 are directed to security services in Makkah, Riyadh and the Eastern Province while 999 serves the rest of the country. The Border Guard can be reached at 994 and the General Directorate of Narcotics Control at 995. Information can also be sent via email with full confidentiality guaranteed and no liability assigned to those providing tips.

The Raboua Sector in Asir has witnessed repeated smuggling attempts in recent times, the Border Guard has reported in successive updates. One recent case involved the seizure of 17 kilograms of hashish from a similar group in the same location. Such patterns have prompted sustained increases in patrol frequency and intelligence gathering along the border with Yemen. The measures have contributed to multiple successful foils over the past weeks.

Saudi Arabia has strengthened its anti-drug trafficking framework through enhanced border controls and inter-agency coordination, according to Ministry of Interior assessments. The Border Guard operates as a key component in preventing the entry of prohibited substances that threaten community well-being. Training and technological upgrades have been implemented to improve detection capabilities at remote sectors like Raboua. These developments align with national strategies aimed at curbing both supply and demand for illicit drugs.

The arrest of the four Ethiopian nationals follows established protocols for handling cross-border violations. The hashish quantity represents a significant amount that could have impacted local markets if it had reached its intended destination. Competent authorities will now determine the appropriate legal consequences for those involved. The directorate continues to urge heightened awareness among residents near border zones.
