The Saudi Press Agency reported that Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah held talks in Berlin with Dr. Alexander Radwan, chair of the German-Arab Parliamentary Relations Group in the German Bundestag, along with several other parliamentarians during an official visit to Germany. The delegations reviewed Saudi-German relations and exchanged views on the most significant issues and challenges in the Middle East. They also discussed efforts by Saudi Arabia and partner countries to reach comprehensive, just and peaceful solutions to the crises in the region. The meeting took place on Tuesday as part of a series of engagements in the German capital.

Radwan previously led a delegation to Saudi Arabia that met with the Shura Council in February, according to records from the council. Those earlier talks focused on strengthening parliamentary cooperation and addressing topics of mutual interest between the two countries. The German-Arab Parliamentary Group functions as a dedicated forum within the Bundestag for advancing legislative dialogue with Arab states.

Prince Faisal also met with German Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy Katherina Reiche on the same day, the Saudi Press Agency said. The officials reviewed bilateral economic relations and opportunities to expand the partnership through increased trade and investment. They considered ways to align initiatives with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 by drawing on the respective strengths of both countries.

Reiche and Prince Faisal stressed the importance of advancing cooperation in the energy sector, including on matters of security, sustainability and supply-chain resilience, according to the agency. The discussions built on the 21st session of the Saudi-German Joint Commission for Economic and Technical Cooperation that convened in Riyadh in February. That session aimed to broaden collaboration across multiple sectors and to open additional avenues for joint projects.

The parliamentary and economic meetings followed the signing the previous day of a memorandum of understanding between Prince Faisal and German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul to establish a strategic dialogue at the ministerial level, Asharq Al-Awsat reported. The agreement seeks to intensify consultation and coordination while further developing bilateral ties in various fields. The two foreign ministers had reviewed regional developments with an emphasis on securing international waterways and ensuring freedom of navigation.

The latest engagements illustrate the breadth of Saudi-German interactions that encompass governmental, economic and parliamentary dimensions. Asharq Al-Awsat noted that the strategic dialogue mechanism will provide a structured framework for ongoing high-level exchanges. Such visits contribute to sustained momentum in relations that both sides have actively cultivated in recent years.
