The minister outlined the initiative while speaking at the Frontier Leaders Forum 2026 in Silicon Valley under the theme “AI Forward: A Global Frontier.” Al-Swaha described an integrated model that supplies AI companies with computing resources alongside capital and direct market access to support their global expansion. He pointed to the partnership with US firm xAI and Saudi company Humain to deploy the Grok model in the Kingdom and construct large-scale AI infrastructure as a working example of this strategy.
According to a Saudi Press Agency report from the event the minister said the Kingdom aims to replicate that collaboration with additional international AI players. Saudi Arabia is expanding deployment of generative AI and augmented-reality applications in sectors that include healthcare and logistics the dispatch added. The country’s AI approach also covers agentic and physical intelligence systems Al-Swaha noted.
Ministry of Communications and Information Technology data placed operational data center capacity at 467 megawatts in the first quarter of 2026 up from 68 megawatts in 2021. Humain has disclosed plans to achieve 6.6 gigawatts of capacity by 2034 utilising 211 land plots with access to substantial power resources company statements show. The newly announced computing target aligns with these longer-term infrastructure goals to meet rising AI demand.
Al-Swaha stated that the computing buildout would reduce operating costs for advanced AI enterprises while improving infrastructure efficiency. Private-sector participation remains essential to delivering the full scale of the project the minister emphasised in his address. The announcement builds on earlier technology agreements involving Humain with suppliers such as NVIDIA and AMD.
The Forum appearance allowed Al-Swaha to present Saudi Arabia’s AI ecosystem to technology executives and investors gathered in San Francisco. Further details on project timelines and specific partnerships are anticipated as implementation proceeds according to the Saudi Press Agency summary. The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to position the Kingdom as a competitive player in global artificial intelligence development.
