The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing reported that Minister Majed Al-Hogail launched municipal and housing projects valued at more than SR1.67 billion in the Al-Baha region during a visit on Thursday. The initiatives involved inaugurating completed projects, laying foundation stones for new ones, handing over housing units and honoring donors to a national campaign. Al-Hogail also chaired a meeting with local municipality officials to discuss performance indicators and project implementation while engaging directly with residents and business leaders. These actions reflect coordinated efforts to address infrastructure needs and expand housing access across the area.
Municipal projects that have been completed were valued at SR464 million according to ministry figures, with an additional SR873.5 million committed to new developments. The portfolio covers extensive road maintenance, sidewalk construction, street lighting installations, flood prevention systems, park creation and enhancements to other public amenities. Such investments are intended to raise service standards for both the resident population and those visiting the mountainous region for tourism or other purposes. The ministry emphasized the comprehensive nature of these upgrades during the minister’s tour of the sites.
In the housing domain the ministry detailed SR185.7 million in completed projects that were inaugurated, featuring the Talal Al-Mafarjah development together with schemes in Baljurashi and Qilwah. A further SR150 million in off-plan housing projects received foundation stones to help increase the overall supply of homes and facilitate greater ownership rates among Saudi families. The minister handed over 19 housing units to beneficiaries of developmental housing programs as part of the visit. This distribution forms one element in broader programs designed to support vulnerable groups through targeted assistance.
The ministry further stated that Al-Hogail launched 16 municipal investment projects during the visit that are projected to generate SR284 million in revenue for the region. Several prominent donors to the Jood Housing Campaign for 1447 AH were recognized for their philanthropic contributions that aid in providing shelter solutions. Meetings with investors focused on identifying additional opportunities to expand the municipal and housing sectors through public-private partnerships. Al-Hogail toured multiple ongoing tourism-related ventures to assess their alignment with development goals.
Among the sites visited were the Raghdan Resort known as Seera, which received support from the Tourism Development Fund in collaboration with Seera Group, according to project overviews shared with the minister. He also inspected the Rotana Edge Hotel, Al-Baha Plaza, the Makamaya Hospitality Project and the Qumrah Honey Garden developed by Asfar Saudi Tourism Investment Company, an entity under the Public Investment Fund. The tour concluded with a review of the new headquarters for the Al-Baha Municipality Emergency and Crisis Center. Officials underscored the importance of enhancing crisis response capabilities to better serve the community in times of need.
