The royal order issued by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud appoints 37 individuals to the Public Prosecution while advancing 50 current staff to higher judicial positions. This directive, announced on July 18, 2026, spans multiple ranks within the organization responsible for investigating crimes and safeguarding public rights. The move forms part of a pattern of regular personnel enhancements designed to reinforce the kingdom’s legal framework.

Attorney General and Public Prosecution Council Chairman Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Yousef expressed gratitude for the royal order in an official statement. He thanked both King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their continued support that reflects a dedication to strengthening the institution and supplying it with qualified talent. Al-Yousef added that the confidence shown by the leadership represents a source of pride for Public Prosecution employees and a motivation to uphold justice and fairness with renewed vigor.

The Attorney General noted that such decisions underscore the wise leadership’s interest in empowering members of the Public Prosecution to fulfill their roles effectively. Dr. Al-Yousef emphasized that the appointments and promotions will contribute to the overall efficiency of the judicial system. This latest step builds on the body’s evolving responsibilities in a rapidly modernizing society.

Similar royal orders have been issued in recent years to develop human resources in the Public Prosecution. One such directive in July 2023 promoted 294 members of staff, according to a report by Arab News at the time. Another order in September 2024 advanced 32 public prosecution members of different ranks, Asharq Al-Awsat reported then.

These personnel adjustments align with broader judicial reforms that have expanded the capacity of legal institutions across Saudi Arabia. The Public Prosecution has assumed greater independence and scope since its restructuring more than a decade ago, enabling it to address a wider array of cases. No specific names of the appointees or those promoted were disclosed in the royal order.
