The Saudi Press Agency reported that Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, who also serves as Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, hosted the discussions with Ajit Doval in the Saudi capital. Minister of State and National Security Adviser Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban attended the session alongside the principals. The participants reviewed ongoing projects between the two countries while identifying fresh opportunities to deepen their partnership across the energy value chain. Officials from both sides weighed how enhanced coordination could contribute to broader market stability at a time of shifting global demand patterns.

The Saudi Press Agency indicated that the agenda included measures to support worldwide energy security and guarantee consistent supplies to international consumers. This gathering follows a series of earlier engagements, including Ajit Doval’s visits to Riyadh in February and April when he held parallel conversations with Saudi counterparts on similar themes. Saudi Arabia has maintained its position as one of the foremost crude exporters to India for more than a decade.

International Energy Agency figures show that nearly 20 million barrels of oil per day moved through the Strait of Hormuz in 2025, with China and India together accounting for 44 percent of those volumes. The agency has noted that Bangladesh, India and Pakistan source almost two-thirds of their liquefied natural gas imports via the same chokepoint, underscoring the route’s strategic weight for South Asian energy needs. A Reuters dispatch from April 2025 recorded that Saudi Arabia and India had already committed to expanded cooperation in crude oil and liquefied petroleum gas deliveries following talks between their leaders.

The Saudi Press Agency added that the latest meeting forms part of sustained diplomatic efforts to align policies on upstream investment, refining capacity and renewable integration. Saudi upstream oil and gas spending is projected to reach approximately $40 billion in 2025, an increase of nearly 15 percent from 2015 levels, according to an International Energy Agency assessment of regional investment trends. Such outlays reflect Riyadh’s focus on long-term supply reliability that directly benefits key Asian markets including India.

Indian officials have repeatedly highlighted the importance of stable Saudi supplies in meeting domestic consumption growth that has outpaced many other large economies. The Saudi Press Agency noted that both delegations expressed satisfaction with the breadth of existing joint ventures while signaling readiness to expand them into new technical areas. Separate reporting from The Hindu confirmed that Ajit Doval’s itinerary also included separate discussions with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan on regional developments linked to energy flows.

The Saudi Press Agency stated that the participants agreed to maintain regular technical exchanges between their respective ministries to track implementation of prior understandings. This approach mirrors the structured dialogue established during previous high-level visits and aims to convert shared objectives into measurable outcomes. Industry observers following the discussions expect continued emphasis on both traditional hydrocarbons and emerging low-carbon technologies in future collaborative projects.
