Senior officials from Saudi Arabia and the UAE have used social media to reaffirm the strength of bilateral relations following a recent summit between their leaders. In a post on X, Saudi official Turki Alalshikh said, “Saudi Arabia and the UAE share a story of brotherly relations and an enduring partnership.” UAE diplomatic adviser Anwar Gargash noted that the biggest story in the Gulf is captured in a single photograph, referencing an image from the leaders’ gathering.
The officials’ statements arrived one day after the leaders’ talks that addressed security, economic cooperation and regional stability. Saudi Information Minister Salman Al-Dosari said the relationship between Saudi Arabia and the UAE is built on a shared history, common heritage and the wise leadership of both countries, which continue to pursue ambitious development visions for their peoples. Al-Dosari added that responsible media have a duty to confront attempts to spread misleading narratives about relations between the two countries and to verify information before publishing.
UAE official Abdullah Al Hamed described UAE-Saudi relations as an extension of a shared history and deep-rooted fraternal ties between two brotherly peoples united by a common destiny. According to Al Hamed’s post, the partnership is reinforced by close coordination between the two countries’ leaderships and a shared vision for a prosperous future. Both officials emphasized that responsible media should objectively reflect that reality and reject attempts to undermine it.
UAE economy ministry figures show that non-oil bilateral trade totalled $41.3 billion in 2024, up from $37.3 billion in 2023. Saudi data placed annual bilateral trade as having risen roughly 42 percent since 2020. The UAE ranked as the kingdom’s fifth-largest destination for exports and its third-largest source of imports that year, according to the compiled statistics.
The leaders’ discussions reaffirmed commitments under the Saudi-Emirati Coordination Council, a body established to advance full integration across economic, knowledge and development sectors. Multiple joint initiatives have emerged from the council since its launch, covering trade, investment and regional security matters. Officials from both sides have consistently pointed to this framework as central to their aligned visions for the future.
