The Ministry of Commerce bulletin placed the number of active e-commerce commercial registrations at 52,259 by the end of the third quarter of 2026, reflecting a 25 percent increase from the 41,682 recorded in the same period of 2025. Regional figures from the ministry showed Riyadh leading with 23,061 registrations, followed by Makkah at 13,177, the Eastern Province with 7,792, Madinah with 2,198 and Qassim with 1,659. These five regions accounted for the bulk of the national total according to the ministry data.
Ministry of Commerce data indicated that more than 50,000 new commercial registrations were issued across all sectors during the quarter, contributing to an overall stock of 1.9 million active commercial registers, which grew 7 percent from the prior year. The ministry report highlighted that institutions made up the majority of the total while companies accounted for a substantial share, with the growth underscoring broader commercial expansion. Female ownership stood at 45 percent of institutional registrations, the bulletin showed.
The ministry assessment found that promising technology sectors aligned with Vision 2030 targets also posted strong gains in the same period. Artificial intelligence related activities rose 31 percent to more than 24,000 registrations while cloud computing increased 35 percent to over 7,000 and cybersecurity climbed 22 percent to more than 11,000. These advances formed part of the bulletin findings on digital infrastructure development.
According to the ministry bulletin the construction sector captured the largest share of new registrations with 18,915 followed by wholesale and retail trade at 17,596 and hospitality and restaurants with 11,561. The three sectors together represented 95 percent of all new commercial registrations issued in the quarter. The ministry noted that such patterns illustrate the diversification occurring within the business environment.
Ministry figures showed that limited liability companies have grown significantly over recent years exceeding 618,000 registrations with a 182 percent increase in that category. The bulletin also pointed to a 10 percent rise in the number of establishments over the past five years to reach 1.2 million. These trends appear across the ministry’s quarterly review of commercial activity.
The ministry release included details on its own adoption of advanced artificial intelligence tools including the NVIDIA B300 suite to enhance decision making and service delivery. Such internal modernization efforts complement the external growth in digital business registrations the bulletin observed. The report is available through the ministry’s official channels for further sector specific breakdowns.
