The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing reported that 63,076 Saudi families moved into their first homes during the first six months of 2026, including 12,004 families in June alone. Of that total, 48,631 families received direct housing support, with 10,160 cases recorded in June. These updates from the ministry build on earlier figures that showed 51,072 families achieving homeownership through the end of May.
According to the ministry’s data, the cumulative number of subsidized housing contracts signed under the Sakani program since its 2017 launch reached 1,046,890 by the end of June. The program offers families a range of solutions that include ready-built units, off-plan purchases, self-construction financing and plots of residential land. Partnerships with private developers have increased the supply of new units while creating integrated residential communities across the kingdom.
A Vision 2030 annual report placed the national homeownership rate at 66.24 percent by the end of 2025, an increase from 47 percent in 2016 and within reach of the 70 percent target set for 2030. The ministry’s quarterly updates showed 32,983 families moving into homes in the first three months of 2026 before the pace accelerated in subsequent months. This trajectory aligns with broader efforts to diversify housing pathways based on family needs and income levels.
The Real Estate Development Fund, operating in coordination with the ministry, deposited more than 5.4 billion Saudi riyals in support payments from January through May 2026. Those transfers, part of ongoing monthly disbursements, have reduced financial barriers for eligible households seeking to buy or build. Ministry statements indicate the combined financial and regulatory measures have sustained momentum in contract signings that now exceed one million since the program’s inception.
The ministry also signed contracts worth $1.22 billion during the first half of the year while listing more than 13,000 investment opportunities on the Fursah portal to stimulate further housing development. Earlier data from the ministry showed similar quarterly gains that contributed to the overall first-half total. The Sakani platform continues to process applications for its multiple program streams to maintain progress toward national housing objectives.
