The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency that expressed the strongest condemnation of the Houthi militia’s targeting of civilian and economic assets in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran. According to the ministry the attacks resulted in injuries to 73 civilians including women and children. The statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency rejected the militia’s persistent hostile approach and its criminal conduct that threatens Yemen’s security and stability as well as that of the broader region.

Saudi Arabia reiterated its categorical rejection of the militia’s actions that undermine peace efforts in Yemen the ministry said in the statement. It condemned continued Houthi attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea and threats to international maritime navigation. The Foreign Ministry affirmed the kingdom’s legitimate right to take all necessary measures to defend its sovereignty safeguard national assets and protect citizens and residents.

The ministry stressed that the kingdom would not tolerate any attack on its territory or assets in line with international law. It warned of the consequences from the militia’s continued targeting of civilians and civilian facilities. The statement called for an immediate end to all escalation by the Houthis and their threats to maritime security.

This latest position follows a UN Security Council condemnation of Houthi missile attacks on Saudi Arabia since July 13 and on commercial vessels since July 22. A report by Arab News noted that Saudi Arabia welcomed the Council’s emphasis on compliance with international law and resolutions including Resolution 2216. The ministry has called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and implement relevant UN measures.

The kingdom has encountered repeated threats from the Iran-backed group which has also disrupted key shipping lanes in the Red Sea according to multiple diplomatic statements. Earlier statements from the Foreign Ministry have similarly described threats to national security as a red line that will be addressed and neutralized. Saudi Arabia continues to support Yemen’s sovereignty and unity while maintaining its determination to preserve security.

In related developments the ministry has previously reaffirmed its right to respond to aggression from Iran-backed militias in Iraq as outlined in July statements. Those declarations came as the kingdom worked to de-escalate regional tensions. The latest condemnation aligns with that consistent policy of defending its interests without hesitation.
