The General Authority for Statistics preliminary results highlighted broad-based gains supporting the 6.1 percent annual rise in the operating revenues index for June 2026. Manufacturing activities along with financial and insurance services each advanced 16.9 percent while transportation and storage led with an 18.4 percent increase, the authority reported. Real estate activities grew 15 percent and the supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning expanded 14.9 percent according to GASTAT figures. Information and communication rose 5.4 percent, accommodation and food services 4 percent, construction 2.3 percent and wholesale and retail trade 0.6 percent even as mining contracted 10.9 percent.

On a monthly comparison the index declined 3.2 percent from May levels primarily due to a sharp 27.3 percent drop in mining output as detailed in the authority’s release. GASTAT also recorded a 9.1 percent year-on-year increase in the employees compensation index for the same period. This compensation growth reflects continued investment in the workforce across key economic sectors.

Building permits issued in the kingdom totaled 5,045 during June, marking a 20.3 percent increase from the 4,192 permits recorded in June of the previous year according to the General Authority for Statistics. The monthly change showed a slight 0.2 percent decline from the 5,056 permits issued in May. Earlier GASTAT reports for May had indicated significant fluctuations in permit issuance with a year-on-year decrease noted in some preliminary assessments.

The latest indicators form part of GASTAT’s short-term business statistics that track economic performance across multiple activities. In 2024 the total operating revenues for various economic activities reached 5.5 trillion riyals with manufacturing contributing 1.7 trillion or 31 percent of the total the authority’s structural business data showed. Such metrics provide insight into the non-oil economy’s momentum.

Additional context from prior months reveals varying growth rates with the operating revenue index advancing 10.6 percent in April and 11.4 percent in May according to previous GASTAT publications. The authority publishes these figures monthly to offer timely snapshots of business conditions. The combination of revenue growth and rising building permits points to activity in construction and related services.

The General Authority for Statistics bases its preliminary results on available data at the time of release with potential for later revision. These statistics are widely monitored by policymakers tracking the kingdom’s economic indicators.
