The National Center for Meteorology reported that CEO Dr. Ayman bin Salem Ghulam inaugurated the Cloud Seeding Operations Briefing Room at the center’s headquarters in the presence of several senior officials. Dr. Ghulam also serves as general supervisor of the Regional Cloud Seeding Program. The new facility accommodates five operational teams with capacity for up to 60 people and includes 16 office spaces as part of efforts to upgrade the program’s working environment and boost integration among participating groups.
According to the National Center for Meteorology the briefing room will function as a unified platform for displaying data and performance indicators while teams review weather bulletins operational plans and the readiness of aircraft systems and personnel. This setup is intended to support daily cloud seeding activities accelerate decision-making and raise implementation efficiency across targeted regions. The center added that the space consolidates meteorological operations aviation ground services cloud-seeding technology and technical departments into one shared environment to improve communication and response times.
The National Center for Meteorology indicated that the facility will additionally host professional workshops training programs and knowledge-transfer sessions covering operational technical and educational components of weather modification. Program records from the official RCSP website place geographical coverage at more than 1,400 sites where seeding operations take place. A research study completed by the Regional Cloud Seeding Program produced findings that point to increased rainfall in seeded areas the center noted.
The Regional Cloud Seeding Program launched in 2022 according to National Center for Meteorology documentation and forms a central element of the Saudi Green Initiative announced in 2021 by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to advance sustainability and ecosystem restoration under Saudi Vision 2030. Specialized aircraft equipped for seeding missions have been expanded through recent acquisitions including an agreement for five new planes four of which are dedicated to cloud seeding operations. Dr. Ghulam stressed the importance of continuing to develop the program’s operational system and making optimal use of modern capabilities and technologies to enhance readiness and operational efficiency the National Center for Meteorology stated. He emphasized teamwork and greater integration among all teams involved in cloud-seeding operations. The NCM chief praised the program teams for their field technical and operational efforts while reaffirming support for developing their capabilities and providing an appropriate environment for efficient duty performance.
The National Center for Meteorology added that Dr. Ghulam highlighted the need to keep advancing tools and methods that help achieve the program’s objectives and improve the quality of its operations. Such steps build on the initiative’s contribution to national water security and environmental goals through sustained rainfall enhancement. The hub’s design enables consolidated oversight that brings multiple disciplines together for more effective daily execution of seeding flights and related activities.
