The General Authority for Statistics reported that Saudi Arabia’s crude oil production totaled 3.46 billion barrels in 2025, a rise of 5.6 percent from the previous year. According to the authority’s Oil and Gas Statistics 2025 report, exports of crude oil increased by 6 percent to 2.35 billion barrels while domestic consumption declined 6.7 percent to 155.4 million barrels. The authority compiles these figures from official sector data to provide an annual overview of the industry’s performance. A chart in the report illustrates crude oil production and export trends spanning from 2010 to 2025.
Refined petroleum products production reached 991.5 million barrels during the year, GASTAT figures show. Output of gas oil and diesel rose 6 percent to 432.2 million barrels as gasoline production grew 1.6 percent to 242 million barrels. Fuel oil production stood at 166.8 million barrels, the statistics authority said. Domestic consumption of refined products totaled 868.4 million barrels with gas oil and diesel use falling 3.4 percent to 216.5 million barrels.
Fuel oil consumption decreased 13 percent to 207.2 million barrels while gasoline consumption reached 193.5 million barrels, according to the same report. Exports of refined petroleum products exceeded 541 million barrels with gas oil and diesel accounting for 247.3 million barrels or 45.7 percent of the total. Gasoline exports totaled 110.5 million barrels representing 20.4 percent and fuel oil exports came to 75.7 million barrels for a 14 percent share. The report breaks down these categories to highlight the composition of trade flows in the refined segment.
The General Authority for Statistics recorded refined product imports at 129.6 million barrels in 2025. Fuel oil imports accounted for 72.9 million barrels or 56.3 percent of the volume while gasoline imports stood at 36.7 million barrels. Gas oil and diesel imports reached 8.8 million barrels, equivalent to 6.8 percent, the authority’s data places. These import levels help supplement domestic production to meet varying sectoral requirements.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported that Saudi crude oil production averaged 9.5 million barrels per day in 2023, reflecting a 9 percent drop from 10.4 million barrels per day in 2022 due to OPEC+ coordination. The 2025 annual total of 3.46 billion barrels corresponds to an average daily output of approximately 9.48 million barrels. Saudi Aramco has set its maximum sustainable crude oil production capacity at 12 million barrels per day. This capacity level supports the Kingdom’s role as a key global supplier capable of responding to market needs.
An assessment from the International Energy Agency indicated that Saudi Arabia’s upstream oil and gas investment is set to reach about $40 billion in 2025. The agency noted this represents a nearly 15 percent rise compared with 2015 levels. Such investments underpin efforts to maintain and develop the country’s extensive energy infrastructure over the long term.
