The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) reported that the Pacific Titan unloaded nine wind turbines along with 27 blades and all associated components at King Fahd Industrial Port in Yanbu. The cargo is designated for the Sitarah and Shaqra wind energy projects. These form part of the National Renewable Energy Program implemented under the Ministry of Energy and managed operationally by the Saudi Power Procurement Company. Mawani noted that such deliveries rank among the largest handled through the port’s logistics system.
According to the Ministry of Energy, the Saudi Power Procurement Company conducts preliminary studies, manages tenders for electricity generation projects and concludes power purchase agreements with developer consortia. The company additionally signs energy storage service contracts as required. Wind initiatives such as Sitarah and Shaqra advance the program’s goal of expanding clean power capacity nationwide. Ministry assessments set the share of renewables together with storage systems at approximately 50 percent of the electricity generation mix by 2030.
King Fahd Industrial Port leverages its Red Sea location to accommodate specialized vessels and heavy-lift cargo essential for energy infrastructure. Mawani has developed the facility’s operational capabilities to support growing demand from industrial and renewable projects. Figures released by the authority indicate rising volumes of oversized shipments processed in recent periods as the port network expands.
The International Renewable Energy Agency has tracked Saudi Arabia’s addition of wind and solar capacity since the National Renewable Energy Program launched in 2017. Multiple wind farm contracts awarded through the Saudi Power Procurement Company have drawn international developers to the kingdom. This latest delivery at Yanbu illustrates the physical progress of equipment mobilization for those awarded schemes.
Mawani data places Yanbu among the primary entry points for renewable project materials arriving by sea. Similar shipments for other wind sites continue to transit through the port system under coordinated arrangements with energy authorities. The Ministry of Energy has documented steady advancement across successive tender rounds that collectively target several gigawatts of new renewable generation.
