The Saudi Press Agency reported that the King Fahd Glorious Quran Printing Complex in Madinah welcomed more than 1.3 million visitors from around the world throughout 1447 AH. This total marks a new high for annual attendance at the facility. The visitors comprised pilgrims to the holy cities as well as international tourists. Many participated in guided tours that detail the steps involved in producing copies of the Quran.
According to the Saudi Press Agency the record attendance underscores the complex’s position as a premier global center for Islamic knowledge while highlighting its adoption of advanced production methods. The facility employs the latest printing technology to maintain exacting standards of accuracy and quality in every copy. These improvements have helped sustain rising interest from diverse audiences over successive years.
The complex was founded by the late King Fahd bin Abdulaziz and inaugurated in 1405 AH, corresponding to 1984, according to the Visit Madinah tourism portal. It has operated since then as the largest dedicated institution for printing, translating and studying the Quran worldwide. Its mandate also includes audio recordings of recitations and scholarly research on Quranic topics.
The complex maintains an annual production capacity of 10 million copies of the Quran and associated publications, a documentary on its operations indicated. Cumulative output has surpassed 320 million items that encompass full Qurans, individual sections, translations and additional materials, the Visit Madinah portal reported. Translations of the meanings of the Quran have been issued in dozens of languages to extend global access.
Earlier statistics released by the Saudi Press Agency placed visitor numbers at more than 420,000 during the first quarter of 2026. A separate monthly tally from the agency recorded over 28,000 visitors in June of that year. These periodic figures illustrate the steady upward trend that culminated in the full-year record for 1447 AH.
Guided tours at the complex demonstrate the full sequence of Quran production from initial calligraphy through final binding and distribution. The facility additionally maintains multiple websites that provide digital access to Quranic texts, audio recitations and interpretive commentaries. This blend of in-person and online resources has broadened its reach among international audiences.
